Clay and Theran | San Marcos Wedding DJ

My first wedding of the season (this was back in May). Stupendous.  We met with Clay and Theron for lunch in April when we were down in San Marcos visiting friends.  I was scheduled to DJ the BYX island party at Texas State but rain stopped the whole gig.  Moving on.  Clay and Theron had booked my most popular date of 2010 almost a year and a half ago.  They had seen me at Michael and Delissa’s wedding back in 2008.

I brought my little brother Andrew along for this wedding.  This was his first time to tag along with me.  Definitely not the last time.

We hiked all the equipment up to the 9th floor at the JC kellum building on the Texas State Campus in San Marcos.  Beautiful view of the campus in a well decorated room.  I had enough time to take in the scenery before the party began.  The guests arrived and as Mr. and Mrs. Clay Smallwood blessed our presence at the reception for the first time.

Appetizers aside, the dances begin.  I love pretty songs. (Ask me what I think is pretty sometime I dare ya.)  Clay gave me the special honor of singing his first dance with his mom.  My record with moms is pretty good so far and this one was a refreshing challenge: The Choir Director.  Dun dun DAH!  My specialty.  My years as a choir kid served me well tonight as they flawlessly exited the dance floor to cut the cake.  We made some toast (name that movie!) then danced the day away.  It was a short evening but with efficient use of time it ended up being perfect for the crowd.  The groom made some choice requests, my favorite being “I will survive” for the guests to electric slide to.  Cheesy?  Definitely.  Fun?  No doubt.  What a way to start out the summer.
